Article: Yoo Oh Sung expresses "In Korean society, whenever a governmental scandal erupts, the controversy is covered up by entertainment news"
Source: Newsen via Nate
Actor Yoo Oh Sung was asked what he dreamt of achieving as an actor and he chose respect. "In Korean society, I often notice that whenever governmental or societal scandals erupt, there is suddenly an explosion of entertainment scandals that are released. In the end, I just don't want actors being used so easily by society for these things."
1. [+716, -120] Whenever a governmental scandal comes out, celebrities suddenly start doing drugs, getting divorces, and going on public dates.
2. [+680, -173] Isn't that why Rain and Kim Tae Hee's scandal came out... because the congressmen passed pension....... shhhh!
3. [+586, -146] I noticed this as well during Seo Taiji and Lee Ji Ah's scandal. There were several other scandals that came out at the same time. I think this goes the same in any country. The entertainment industry is used to distract the public and cover up anything else that's more important. There are way too many instances of this happening to call it a mere coincidence.
4. [+59, -22] I'm honestly tired of conspiracy theories. It doesn't make sense for a celebrity to go out drunk, get in the car, and hit someone just because someone told them to so they can cover for another governmental scandal.
5. [+49, -36] I don't believe in these conspiracy theories either. In what world would celebrities go out and do drugs, drunk drive, and murder people just to cover governmental scandals ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
- Haven't you noticed that most of the scandals were events that took place months or years ago but are conveniently released to the public at the same time as a governmental scandal?

They don't believe in conspiracy theories, however accept media plays as a fact. It's not a theories, it's a media management and politics.
ReplyDeletedoes korea care that much about the entertainment industry? like I can't imagine the american public being distracted from gov't mess ups with beyonce scandals lol
ReplyDelete... that is messed up.

Someone has been reading too many netizen comments....
the k-entertainment IS bringing in some money
ReplyDeleteI can see both points really. I don't think he was trying to say that the governments are responsible for a certain star's actions. He was just saying that he felt that such scandals get pushed out there more if something is happening with the government.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, every country has conspiracy theories about their country, so may or may not be true
Oh sh*t, I hope nothing serious happens to him for speaking the truth..
ReplyDeleteIt's not so much that celebrities will do acts specifically to cover government scandals but rather that some scandals will be let out into the public sphere in an attempt to distract them. The shit they 'leak' is always happening and being taken notice off by certain types.
ReplyDeleteThis happens in a lot of countries.. Even in America. But i think in Korea it seems to be a lot worst.
ReplyDeletewhy can't the man speak his mind without people making silly assumptions like you?
ReplyDeleteyeah.. korea is actually using hallyu to promote korean culture.
ReplyDeletebut they would not succeed if netizens stop helping them by reading and commenting more these scandals rather than the poltician ones.
ReplyDeleteI told you. Dispatch want to be known as paparazzi, but the truth's a certain person control them.
ReplyDeleteAt least in America, there are news channels (like CNN, FOX News, HLN) and even the local news may talk about what's going on in congress if it's a really big deal and it's your choice to watch it or not. America does put the controversy out there. It's just the fact that alot of people aren't watching these channels.
ReplyDeleteshit like this is kinda terrifying, its good that things like this are coming out though.
ReplyDeleteyeah in america.. they usually kill off people who do that.. just look at 2pac, and many others who tried to expose the entertainment industry.. they suddenly died.
ReplyDeleteMAYBE if netizens don't pay too much attention and obsess over celebrities personal lives there would not be a cover up for governmental scandals.....
ReplyDeleteare you saying the government killed tupac, biggie, and elvis...
ReplyDeleteif you knew anything about 2pac, he often spoke against the goverment and courruption in the entertainment industry. idk anything about biggie or elvis doing that.
ReplyDeleteIn Brazil, the government issues can be covered by soccer, carnaval, novels, etc.
ReplyDelete(At least, in Korea, they have a good health system. sigh)
I wanna mean: It happen all over the world. And thats not something to be proud of.
In Brazil, they just ignore. He would not be too much listened here. T-T
ReplyDeleteIn Brazil, one big soccer game would be enough to make it. ;\
ReplyDeleteI think that's were the whole Illuminati concept originate from. They say that the Illuminati killed off Tupac, Biggie, Michael Jackson, etc. and ruined DMX, Katt Williams, etc.
ReplyDelete"Killuminati" was something Tupac mentioned a lot before he was shot.
ReplyDeleteand it works...
ReplyDeleteSo far, I haven't seen our country's government issues being covered up by entertainment scandals but i have to agree that every country's media aligns itself to the government irregardless of the media's claim that they are unbiased.
ReplyDeleteSo I should probably be thankful that my country doesn't have a big entertainment industry. I can hardly name 5 actors lol So what politicians do draws always more interest.
ReplyDeleteWell then I guess that's that :/ Sucks that he had to die so early.
ReplyDeletewhere do you come from?
ReplyDeleteFinland. There's hardly any scandals happening in the entertainment industry so not many news from that front.
ReplyDeletei totally believe this... its just too suspicious that something that happened months ago is revealed just when something involved with the government happens... people keep looking at the finger without realizing it cuz they love gossip... and the government say they love their Nation's idols/celebs but the moment theyre in trouble then they just simply save their own ass and throw celebs to the wolves without a doubt to distract the citizens... just ask Rain :S
ReplyDeletethere's always one way or another to do that and the netizens are the last ones to blame here. In my country they use sport news to cover up this sort of things so it's the same
ReplyDeletedont be too naive lmao
ReplyDeletelol Fox news XD.........
ReplyDeletePeople in Britain and Canada laugh at U.S. news media tbh. Online U.S. news blog sites are more legit than the news that is shown on TV.
they forgot to mention that the same week an government issue come out about a new tax law or something and later Oh Yeon Seo dating scandal come out and I read and article explaining that this celebrities scandals are take the spot light and people are not seeing the new laws that the government pass
ReplyDeletejust studying their politics and you will found out later that entertainment conspiracy theories is exist...lol...
ReplyDeleteand this isnt just happen in korea btw
